The group were founded by the brothers Richie and Charlie Ingui along with Kenny Jeremiah.
The Soul Survivors are best remembered for their 1967 hit single, ‘Expressway to Your Heart’ b/w ‘Hey Gyp’.
The song was the first hit penned by the Philadelphia soul record producers and songwriters, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.

A Blue Eyed Soul group, the Soul Survivors adopted an R&B sound for their early singles on the Crimson imprint.
The follow-up single, ‘Explosion in Your Soul’ b/w ‘Dathon’s Theme’, was less successful.
They left the Crimson imprint in 1968, and relocated to ATCO Records that year for ’Turn Out The Fire’ b/w ‘Go Out Walking’ and ‘Mama Soul’ b/w ‘Tell Daddy’.

The Soul Survivors left ATCO, for the Gamble & Huff TSOP imprint in 1974, releasing ‘Lover To Me’ b/w ‘Your Love’ and ‘What It Takes’ b/w ‘Virgin Girl’ that year.
In 1976, they released their final 45 for Philadelphia International, entitled ‘Happy Anniversary America’'.
Kenny Jeremiah died in New Jersey in December 2020, from Covid-19.
